Gmail spam filter getting worse?

It was by chance that I checked out the spam folder on one of my gmail accounts. First I was surprised to find one of Google Group approval mail to be listed under spam. If you don't believe, check out the following image.

Second, I was even more taken aback to view a host of legitimate messages, upto 50% of valid messages ending up in spam category. I wonder what has happened with the spam filter, whether its a tweak or an algo change. To date the default Gmail spam filter was supposedly the best in my view, but alas, no longer, it seems. Third, now it forces me to check all my alternative gmail accounts for valid but lost mails or spend time adjusting the Gmail spam filter.
